Graziano Seghezzi
Managing Partner & Chief Operating Officer, Sofinnova Partners
Graziano Seghezzi is Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Sofinnova Partners. He joined the firm in 2006 and in addition to his responsibilities as a managing partner, and a key member of the Sofinnova Capital Strategy, he also oversees corporate operations across the firm.
He serves on the boards of several companies he helped create and finance, including Alethio, GlycoEra, T-Therapeutics, Genespire, Tenpoint Therapeutics, and HotSpot Therapeutics. His exits include Mablink Bioscience (sold to Eli Lilly in 2023), Corvidia Therapeutics (sold to Novo Nordisk in 2020), GlycoVaxyn (sold to GlaxoSmithKline in 2015), and Omthera Pharmaceuticals (listed on the Nasdaq and sold to AstraZeneca, both in 2013).
Graziano has also driven Sofinnova's growing presence in Italy, establishing the country's first biotech accelerator, BiovelocITA, in 2015, and the Sofinnova Telethon Fund in 2018. Given the success of the first iteration, BiovelocITA 2 launched in December 2023 as the first pan-European strategy dedicated to creating and accelerating biotech startups.
Graziano began his venture capital career at Sofinnova in 2001, before spending three years at Index Ventures. Earlier, he spent five years in academic research at New York University's School of Medicine, studying oncology and cardiovascular disease. He holds a degree in genetics and microbiology from the University of Pavia and an MBA from RSM-Erasmus University.
