Ligia Vela-Reid

Ligia joined Sofinnova Partners as Communications Manager in February 2024. She brings nearly a decade of experience in corporate communications and investor relations roles in the life sciences and financial services sectors.

Most recently, she was an Associate Director at LifeSci Advisors, driving investor relations and corporate communication strategies for European and US private and public biotech companies — some of which were Sofinnova portfolio companies. Ligia’s experience working in global communications agencies like Edelman and Prosek Partners has given her a solid understanding of brand awareness and what it takes to craft effective communication strategies in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Ligia is passionate about the life sciences sector and is committed to making it more accessible to all. She is particularly enthusiastic about Europe's role in shaping the future of healthcare and is determined to amplify the visibility of innovators in the industry on this side of the pond.

She graduated with a dual degree in Communications and Human Services and Social Justice from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
